I found this “Big BMX” at the Cyclorama website. First I thought it might be nice, but it’s a crappy alu frame, made for hipsters who wanna look cool cruising around town…
The SE FGFS frames have proven that a one piece rear end does NOT work, so they might think it’s a big BMX, but I guess it will break after several bunnyhops.
At Cyclorame they posted several pics of the bike being used in polo, and for that it might be handy, although I still think fixed is the best option for a polo bike.

So my conclusion, this is another hipster bike that might be handy for polo, but that’s it. I’ld say it’s a waist of your money, if you want a 26″ BMX, get a Volume. The Big BMX is a big FAIL.

Wednesday I wanted to start a discussion about FGFS turning into bmxes on steroids, with the Volume Vandal 26″ as the main example.
Volume reacted to the discussion that started not just here but at fixed blogs worldwide about their new frame with this statement:

Apparently our new Vandal frame has gotten a ton of feedback from all sorts of peeps in the industry, I mean blogs. Is it a FGFS or a DJ? The Vandal is basically our Sledgehammer 26″ BMX, except simplified. We’re not saying it’s one or the other. It’s a 26″ frame that was designed to easily maneuver around for whatever you ride; fixed, dirt or just cruise the curbs.

You can still kick me in the head if you ever catch me riding one of these as a FGFS frame though…

Ok, first of all, I wanna make sure it’s clear I’m a big fan of the progression FGFS is going through right now!

BUT, I’m not sure where the whole 26″ thing is going to. Several companies are making FGFS frames specially made for 26″. The Grime YOMANG! frame being one of the first.

That still looked like it was based on what once was a track bike. I’m not a big fan of riding 26″, but that could maybe be because I’m too tall to feel comfortable on a bike with 26″ wheels. But still, I like the looks of this frame. It doesn’t look like a bmx on steroids.

BUT, Volume is now bringing a 26″ version of their Vandal frame:

This is in my honest opinion a bmx on steroids! It’s aimed at FGFS riders and not as a downhill mountain bike frame, so if you wanna ride this, why not get a proper bmx? Or a cruiser if you don’t wanna ride 20″…

Like Skitch once said: “If I ever put pegs on my bike, kick me in the head and give me a real bmx!”
This is my “kick me in the head” kinda thing, if I ever decide to ride a bmx on steroids, you can kick me in the head and give me a real bmx.

Those were my 5 cents, feel free to comment on this…

The Volume Thrasher forks are out! This means Skitch can get the fork to match his Thrasher frame. Which will make it’s debut at today’s Dirty Thirty Alleycat.

Volume has made some limited edition versions of their Fu Manchu fork and Trickster bars. They’re very bling bling, so get them while they’re still hot!

Sorry for a day without new posts, but I think this new Thrasher Part from Steven Jensen is gonna make up for that! You might have seen it on sevarl other blogs, aand normally that’s a reason for me not to re-post it, but this part is just BANGING! And you know I’m not a big fan of riding 700cmx with pegs, so if I still like it then, it must be good…

thrasher part from steven jensen .
