Bike messenger vs pro downhill rider…..

Back in 1999 my television career started when someone from the Dutch television called our company (Velocity). With the question if one of the messengers was willing to take on the Dutch champion downhill racing on a race down the longest stairs of europe for this tv show called ‘Dat kan ik ook’ (I can do that too). Everyone knew I liked going down the stairs here in my hometown (Arnhem). So I got this woman on the phone asking me if I would except that challenge. And of course I would, damn the longest stairs in europe you must be crazy not to except a challenge like that.
But she warned me because she first asked the messengers in Rotterdam and none had the balls to do it. Then see called the messengers in Amsterdam and they refused also but said to here you should call Arnhem, there’s a guy crazy enough.
So a couple of months later we went to Liège (Luik) in Belgium and searched for the stairs, then suddenly there it was….

That’s gonna be a whole lot of fun riding down this shit!

So after a couple of minutes we meet the camera crew and the girl who was presenting the show (Aniko van Santen). And also the man himself Gerwin Peters, dutch downhill champion and at that moment fourth in the UCI rankings. Later that year he would get second place in the overall ranking. A really nice guy who brought two massive machines with him. Two downhill bikes from the Dutch national team. I never owned a suspension bike let alone a full suspension downhill bike… And then they also gave me the bike from Bas de Bever a famous BMX and downhill rider here in the Netherlands and right now hard coach of the Dutch BMX team.

To make a long story short I told my colleges, i’ll crash or i’ll win!

So here is my television debut and for all the none Dutch speakers you can go to the action right here!

And a last shot looking down because it brings great memories. :-D

I had the pleasure to meet FGL‘s Oscar and Dave in Rotterdam a few months ago, and right now FGL started a messenger service! So if you’re in London and you need a messenger, give them a call and say Votske said “hi!”.

This shit is to funny and completely in the line of what we want on FUCCIT!

This is a sweet awesome piece of vintage messenger history up for sale. This Crumpler Fux-Deluxe has been used by me, a fully wicked sick MESSENGER as I delivered parcels in cities as exciting as London, Sydney, San-Fran and Adelaide getting sweaty and sticking it to the man by delivering his envelopes.

It can hold a carton of  beer, if you’ve drank two of them , you could take the rest to a party and all the chicks there would be like “that guys is so awesome, look at his awesome vintage MESSENGER bag, I think I’ll put out to the max” If you’re a chick this also works with dudes, unless you like chicks, then it works with them.

This bag is 100% working condition and has been used in numerous covert ally-cat races, some of which I even finished. I remember once this dumb suit asked me what the weather was like outside while I was wearing this bag and I was all like “why should I talk to you suit, you corporate slave” and then I pulled a wicked vintage track stand on his face.

The bag has been used for many years and is very worn and faded and contains many examples of hard coreness especially around the non-functional zip. However, this wear will boost your retro-vintage MESSENGER credibility to stratospheric levels and allow you access to all the secret messenger hang outs and parties that I can’t tell you about because you don’t own this bag yet! This bag will also make your whip 1000 times more killa, and will allow to do bar spins and monos provided that you can do them already.

Included with the bag are an awesome scrote and a phone holder. Scrotes are for holding radios which is how your fat controller tells you to stick it to the man but you’ll need it to hold a second phone cos everyones gonna want to call you when you’ve got this sweet bag. Also are two genuine fully awesome MESSENGER uniforms, as worn by a real MESSENGER. You’ll be so popular you’ll be leading the ladies (or dudes) around buy their nose rings and tongue studs.

It makes me very sad to let this fully sick bag go but I’ve had an image of it tattooed onto my calf and can safely let go now. The extreme cultural value of this bag is above $10,000 so don’t be stingy.

Check it out on ebay! thanks to @BillBuffalo

Since he’s an almost full time messenger for a month already, and he will be riding in full spandex! Including shaven legs…

Well done! Now only I need to find a job…

Pic found at Milano Fixed.

Just came across this fid and I had to post it. It’s been too long ago I meet my friend Felipe. I even miss the guy sometimes…… But it also made me wondering about all the fixed gear shit thats going around (specially here in Holland). This guy is by far the fastest messenger on the planet (no joke) and he sticks by riding freewheel with two perfectly working brakes.

Don’t get me wrong I like riding fixed, but on the job I would choose two brakes and freewheel now a days. And of course a helmet! But Felipe is excused because he is immortal, for real! Hope to see you soon bro, love ya!

p.s. For example this guy won the first backward circle competition during the worlds in Zurich on a freewheel bike!

In 1985, Charles Kuralt met David Leopold, New York City’s fastest bike messenger. 25 years later is Leopold still the best in the game?.

25 years earlier.
