I can’t be there, but I suggest that everybody that can make it, will go to the Fixed For Life ride in Antwerp, it’s for a good cause! And the Fixed Gear Antwerp guys are really cool…

Feeling bored? You can hop in your car and go to Antwerp and play polo today!
I talked to the guys from Fixed Gear Antwerp about going to visit them in the last weekend of August (Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th).
On Saturday they have the Don’t Get Lost in the Back Streets! alleycat, and on Sunday they want to do a polo session on their new court.
Sounds like a plan to me! So who’s up for that?
Depending on how many people want to join me / us, we might get a van, or go by train. And we can try to husttle a camping, hostel or couches to crash on…
Every month they got a critical mass in Antwerp! It might be interesting to join them, we could contact the Fixed Gear Antwerp guys so we can chill with them too. Sounds nice, doesn’t it? Since the August Critical Mass is on Friday the 27th and the Don’t Get Lost in the Back Streets Alleycat is on the 28th. We might book a cheap hostel or try to crash on people’s couches…
The nice guys from Fixed Gear Antwerp are organizing an alleycat, with a very nice flyer! This is what they say about it:
Time to unpack and mount that fiftytwo-toothed cog and speed your way to Antwerp. On the 28th of August we’re organizing the allready infamous Don’t Get Lost in the Back Streets alleycat/messenger race.
Are you still the Pizza Delivery Boy-master? Did you earn your shotgun(s) by irresponsibly taking over the wheel from a cab in GTA? Then you’re the right (wo)man for the job! In fact, we’ll spread a few packages over the city. Up to you to pick ‘em up and deliver them to their next destination. Pretty easy, right? It’s gonna be fast, it’s gonna be fearsome but it’s sure gonna be frekkin’ fun. But look out for alley cats and fixed vixens!
You wanna join in? Mail your name, postal code and social security number to fixedgearantwerp@gmail.com. Act fast cuz we’ve only got packages for twenty roadrunners. There’s absolutely no need to start studying the city-map, we’ll try and make sure you don’t get lost in the backstreets. Oh, don’t forget to bring your backpack/messenger bag and one shiny 2 eurodollar-coin so we can stuff you with food from our bbq!
Even if you don’t feel like racing, just come and join us for fun and drinks at Bar Nadar. And flick your self-hunted marinated chicken-filet on the grill!
Both FUCCIT teams, Grizzly and the Teddybears and the FUCCIT Old Fuccs, did kinda well in the Dutch Worldchampionships Qualification Tournament. Grizzly and the Teddybears took 3rd place and the FUCCIT Old Fuccs took 4th place.
1st place was taken by EHVFXD 1 and 2nd place was taken by team Vaderdag (a random team made up by several players with no team that showed up at the tournament).
We, the FUCCIT Old Fuccs didn’t even think we would make it that far! Tjeerd and I had as many beer breaks as possible and we played our games the Italian way, let Le Haute score 1 or 2 goals in the beginning of the game, and play as defensive as possible and look out for the counter. Tjeerd proved to be great goal keeper, and I showed I can do more than standing still in the goal and can be a kinda ok-ish midfielder. Le Haute is still one of Holland’s best offensive players. If it’s up to me, the FUCCIT Old Fuccs will play more often in this formation…
It was great to meet the guys from Fixed Gear Antwerp too, hope to see you guys soon!
Thank you Thomas and Skitch for organizing this fun tournament!
