Just came across this fid and I had to post it. It’s been too long ago I meet my friend Felipe. I even miss the guy sometimes…… But it also made me wondering about all the fixed gear shit thats going around (specially here in Holland). This guy is by far the fastest messenger on the planet (no joke) and he sticks by riding freewheel with two perfectly working brakes.

Don’t get me wrong I like riding fixed, but on the job I would choose two brakes and freewheel now a days. And of course a helmet! But Felipe is excused because he is immortal, for real! Hope to see you soon bro, love ya!

p.s. For example this guy won the first backward circle competition during the worlds in Zurich on a freewheel bike!

The doc. told me that I had to do stuff I liked doing earlier. That also means posting some shit here on the website. I hate doing that recently but hé the doc. says it’s good for me and Djee-Djee (from EHVFXD)send me this mail so here it is:

Steeds meer fietsen zonder rem op de weg

AMSTERDAM – De politie in Amsterdam maakt zich grote zorgen over de groeiende populariteit van de kamikazefiets. De zogenoemde fixed-gearfietsen zijn eigenlijk bedoeld voor races op de wielerbaan en hebben geen remmen, maar duiken steeds vaker op in de stad.

Met name koeriers gebruiken de zeer snelle fiets steeds vaker.
Op een fixed-gearfiets zitten geen remmen. De fietser kan alleen remmen door tegendruk op de pedalen te geven. Het achterwiel blokkeert dan niet zoals bij een gewone terugtraprem. De remweg is op een ‘kamikazefiets’ een stuk langer.

Volgens de politie is de fiets vanwege de lange remweg zelfs voor geoefende fietsers in de stad levensgevaarlijk. Bovendien is het verplicht om remmen op een fiets te hebben. Berijders van een fixed-gearfiets kunnen rekenen op een boete van 35 euro voor rijden zonder goede remmen, maar het gevaar dat ze lopen is volgens de politie van groter belang.

Ook verkopers van de baanfietsen kunnen volgens de politie een bon krijgen. Als de verkoper weet dat de koper van zo’n fiets er op de openbare weg mee gaat rijden, zou die schuldig zijn aan uitlokking. (NOVUM)
